I appear to have misplaced my journal which has all my notes in from Venice so I have had to do it from memory - it may all change should I find it again. Until then, what I can remember of days three and four is here . As we're continuing the Italian theme this week, here's another quick recipe to try.

Left work at lunchtime with a huge smile on my face. Two weeks into the new job and I already feel like I'm making more of a contribution. I'm really pleased with how quickly I'm picking up the medical terminology, and I think Word's auto text is the best thing to come out of the computer age (next to the Internet anyway). Next week I have one morning working, two training then I'm b*ggering off for a 12 day holiday. I daresay I will get back and have forgotten everything.

It's taken a little bit of getting used to having to get up so much earlier, but I think my body clock is starting to adjust now. Best of all is that I have been so much more productive in the afternoons, and I'm looking forward to a particularly relaxing weekend that isn't dominated by washing, ironing and household chores.

Despite having left my last job 2 weeks ago, I had my leaving do last night. It was lovely to catch up with the lads again and have a good old natter without any stresses or strains of the job in the background. Hopefully I will see them again when the Company eventually relocates and I can pop in on my afternoons off.

Becky was recently diagnosed with (amongst other related things) Arterial Knee problems. In short her tibia is catching on her knee caps which causes a lot of pain walking up or down slopes, kneeling down etc. She's seen the Physio a couple of times and been given various stretches to do in order to strengthen muscles and straighten out her stance. She's taken on board advice to do more exercise, although there are certain things she has to avoid like running, which explains why she found it so difficult when we went out a while back. So she's taken to walking, cycling and swimming a few times a week. It was great to go swimming with her on Tuesday and has inspired me to go straight from work once a week as well.

Well, the new job is going alright still, although I'm getting some resentment from one of my co-workers. She's been moved to another office while I'm training and today came in with a huge strop on and declared she was moving everything out of her drawers so 'she' (meaning me) could have her desk. She's not happy that I'm being trained properly rather than being dropped in the deep end like everyone else and basically made me feel extremely uncomfortable. Just cos you have music in common doesn't mean you are gonna get along with someone. Deep joy.

One of the good things about working mornings only is that I have more time to pursue the things I want to in the afternoon. Today I packed my cossie and went for a half hour swim before heading home - just what the doctor ordered to unwind from this mornings dramas.

Jenny is a lady of leisure until September and has discovered our bread machine. It's so nice walking into a house that smells of freshly baked bread each day. So far she's made tomato bread and a cinnamon and raisin loaf, as well as the normal bog standard white loaf. Scrummy!

Everything else is hunky dory and I'm looking forward to 12 days off soon to soak up some Italian sun, 'do' Rome and get fat eating pasta and roast vegetables.

3 July 2008

There's a delicious addition to the food page, a new favourite of Jenny and I. The good news is this one takes about 20 minutes to make and eat.

Woo Hoo, it's now also possible to leave a comment on any of the pages on the site. This facility is located on the middle section usually at the bottom of the feature or the blurb. I'd be particularly interested in any film, book or music recommendations or just general comments about the content on any particular page. Cheers!

I have a new list. It's some of my favourite all time books, but its not an exhaustive list, and it's not in order of preference either. Some that I would have put over there, are now out of print and there's no image available on the web. Depending on how well you know me, then they may be conspicuous by their absence.

With books in mind I've just started work on a page for each of my favourite writers. So far Catherine Ryan Hyde is the first to go live, but hopefully I will add more over the next couple of days. Please check them out, there's some great book out there and maybe there will be something to inspire you too.

Surely it can't be July already? Well, very busy week here with me starting a new job yesterday ... so far so good. Jenny has her school Prom tomorrow night, dress bought, makeup and hair practiced, and Hanson Cab arranged. Becky has two teeth taken out on Thursday in order for her next brace to be fitted next month (stubborn baby teeth that are refusing to take the hint and go!), and I have a big night on Saturday ... which I will tell you about after the event.

Maybe.

In the meantime, Day 2 of the Venice trip is now up and running, where you can find out whether we were brave enough to venture onto an Italian bus again or spent the rest of the weekend in the hotel room. It's here - enjoy.
